Anderson lives by a simple rule: being different isn't a bad thing.
Diagnosed with a rare kidney disease at just five weeks old, Anderson has spent his twelve years navigating a rare kidney disease that's meant countless hospital stays. Some days are better than others, and last year brought a couple months in the hospital. But Anderson has perspective beyond his years: "Just like stocks go up and down, that's how life works."
His condition doesn't stop him from doing what he loves. Whether he's cooking or talking baseball, this kid from LA brings energy and joy to everything. He's on multiple sports teams, goes to all the games and events, and never hides what he's going through.
Since connecting with Chai Lifeline four years ago, Anderson and his family have been supported through advocacy, Camp Simcha, home visits, iShine for his siblings, special events, and the Big Brother program. Having someone who truly gets it and is always there for support has made all the difference. When Chai Lifeline brought him to a Dodgers game, he got to meet the players, walk on the field, and collect autographs. For a kid who lives and breathes baseball, it was a dream come true.
On tough days, Anderson turns to his friends and his affirmations. With his mom, he says: "I am healthy, I am strong, I am confident, I am kind, I am wise, I am smart, I am important, I am a child of God and I am Lucky Lucky Lucky."
Anderson's advice is simple but wise: "You'll push through. It's not the end of the world. Don't stop being a kid and just have fun."
