Hashem Has My Back

Fourteen-year-old Lilu loves art, family, friends, and challenging herself with new experiences. Whether it's tackling a ropes course or diving into a creative project she's never tried, she approaches life with curiosity and courage.

When cancer entered her life, Lilu held onto something powerful: "Hashem knows what He's doing and I know He has my back!"

That trust was put to the test about a year ago. After completing her cancer treatments, doctors ran follow-up tests and found that something wasn’t right. They prepared the family for the possibility of starting another course of treatment. When her parents asked if she was worried, Lilu didn’t hesitate. “No,” she said. “I know Hashem has my back.”

Before beginning anything new, the doctors decided to run the tests one more time. This time, the results came back completely normal.

Throughout her journey, Chai Lifeline has been there for Lilu and her family, providing advocacy, case management, the Big Sister program, Camp Simcha, hospital visits, home based support, meals, transportation, and special events.

"I'm thankful for everything, even the bad," Lilu says. "Without the bad there is no good." She explains that cancer brought her closer to her sister, gave people chances to do mitzvos, and opened doors to camp.

"During the bitter moments I try to live on the sweeter side," Lilu adds. For her, that's not just a saying; it's how she chooses to live every day.
