Twelve-year-old Cece from Toronto lights up every room she walks into. Whether she's perfecting her dance moves, brightening someone's day with a smile, or simply being the friend everyone wants to be around, her positive attitude shines through in everything she does.
When Burkitt lymphoma entered her world during the COVID-19 pandemic, Cece faced treatment with her signature superpower: unwavering joy.
Being in the hospital over COVID meant navigating much of her treatment in isolation, with only one parent allowed in at a time, but Cece is strong. Even in the toughest moments, she never let cancer define her. She shaved her head without hesitation, telling everyone, “It’ll grow back!” Her focus wasn’t on the past, it was on getting strong again so she could dance, ride horses, do gymnastics, and dive into every adventure life has to offer.
Now in remission and heading into Grade 7, Cece lives by her own wisdom: "Be grateful for where you're at because there's always someone praying to be in your position."
Cece doesn't just live in the moment; she celebrates it. Her unwavering spirit carried her entire family through the toughest times, and today she's proof that choosing joy can change everything.
