i-Shine Westchester/Riverdale

When illness occurs within a family, the reverberations cause a tidal wave of disruption and impact children most of all. i-Shine of Westchester/Riverdale is a unique after-school program created for elementary and middle school children living with illness or loss in their homes.

Located at Westchester Day School in Mamaroneck, NY, Chai Lifeline's i-Shine program meets on Wednesday afternoons from 4:00 – 6:45 pm and provides homework help, snacks, dinner, creative activities, sports, mentorship, camaraderie, fun and lots of love in a supervised, relaxed setting. It's an environment filled with laughter, learning, and friendship where children have the opportunity to truly shine.

Supervision is provided by parents, teachers, social workers, and psychologists. High School volunteers are a vital part of the program, meeting one-on-one with our children, offering companionship and love. Children are driven, by volunteers, from their schools to our host location, WDS, and then to their homes. There is no cost to families.

We are currently looking for HIGH SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS AND PARENT DRIVERS.
