The Volunteer Manager, Achim B’Yachad plays a hands-on role in recruiting, onboarding, and supporting volunteers who serve Chassidish children and families facing illness or crisis. This position ensures that volunteers are matched appropriately to programs and family needs, are culturally aligned with the community. The role works closely with program leads, family liaisons, and hospital representatives to make sure volunteers are equipped, appreciated, and connected to meaningful opportunities across hospital, home, and community settings. The Volunteer Manager also oversees the management and distribution of donated goods and resources used in volunteer-supported programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

- Volunteer Recruitment & Onboarding
- Plan and run recruitment events in Chassidish communities Williamsburg, Boro Park, Monsey, Monroe
- Actively recruit volunteers for hospital, home, sibling respite programs and Drivers and Specialty
- Onboard new volunteers, ensuring they understand expectations, program guidelines, and community sensitivities
- Coordinate with respite coordinator to match volunteers to families based on needs, skills, and availability
- Build relationships with schools, yeshivas, and community groups to strengthen volunteer pipelines
- Relationship Building & Volunteer Retention
- Develop personal relationships with volunteers to build trust and connection
- Maintain regular communication with key volunteers, checking in on needs, challenges, and successes
- Volunteer Appreciation
- Plan and execute volunteer appreciation events in multiple Chassidish communities throughout the year
- Recognize contributions through milestones, public acknowledgments, and “swag” distribution.
- Create systems to highlight volunteer impact in community and internal communications
- Management of Donated Resources
- Build and maintain relationships with community members, local businesses, and vendors to secure donated goods, food, venues, and services that support volunteer programs
- Coordinate with volunteers and staff to integrate donated resources into program planning
- Trips & Special Events
- Plan and execute seasonal large events outings and celebrations (e.g., Shabbatons and overnights
- Collaborate with NY Region to utilize shared resources
- Arrange transportation, meals, and medical accommodations
- Arrange special request entertainment/parties including entertainment, speaker, activity, food, and volunteers
- Coordinate with vendors, sponsors, and community partners for event support
- Develop activities, entertainment, and family engagement opportunities
- Administration & Communication
- Track volunteer activity, hours, and assignments in Salesforce
- Maintain up-to-date volunteer contact lists and program lists
Experience:
- 1–3 years related work experience in volunteer management, community programming, or related field
Professional Skills:
- Strong leadership and organizational skills to manage multiple programs and initiatives
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with volunteers, families, and staff
- Experience in volunteer recruitment, engagement, and appreciation
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt in a dynamic environment
