The hospital representative works with clients to assess their practical and emotional needs, plan a course of action, link the client to services, and monitor progress. They work to bridge the gap between client and hospital staff and advocate on client behalf when necessary. The representative will become familiar with multiple medical diagnoses, medical concepts, and practices, and grow to have an in-depth medical knowledge.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Hospital visits to patients in various pediatric departments in the hospital, including inpatient units and outpatient clinics
- Provide emotional support to clients and family member
- Develop relationships with hospital staff, including doctors, social workers, nurse managers, etc. in order to advocate on behalf of patients, as well as to be a partner in the medical and emotional needs of the clients and their families
- Work with staff, both locally and nationally, to coordinate and implement Chai Lifeline services, including but not limited to food deliveries, family/client events, and volunteers
- Assist in ad hoc assignments
Education:
bachelor’s degree preferred
Professional Skills:
- Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to multitask
- Ability/Experience working with sensitive information
- Nonprofit experience is a plus
