Cecile Dalfen a"h Friends N Fun Weekend

Twenty West Coast children and teens whose lives have been upended by serious illness spent an extraordinary weekend together courtesy of the Cecile Dalfen ah Friends n Fun. They were joined by twenty Chai Lifeline counselors, who descended on the LA area to bring Camp Simcha and Camp Simcha Special to campers on the West Coast.

The homes of Nomi and Daniel Silverman, Tracey and Joey Goldstein and Alona and Michael Horowitz were magically transformed into Camp Simcha West with singing, dancing, camaraderie and fun for everyone. Several guests who had never before experienced a Chai Lifeline get-together were visibly moved by what can only be described as an overwhelming experience of love for these very sick children. Thank you to the Goldsteins, Silvermans and Horowitzes for hosting meals and to Ariel and Rochel Leah Dietcher, Rabbi Pini and Sabine Dunner, Dr. Charles and Victoria Frankel, Sam and Rivki Mark, Daniel and Annie Nagel, Yerachmiel and Debbie Weltman, the Goldsteins and the Silvermans for housing the campers and counselors. A big thank you also goes out to Dr. Irwin Weiss, our on call doctor for the weekend, and to Nomi Silverman, Tracey Goldstein and Avital Abraham for all of their help planning this amazing weekend.

The weekend would not be complete without a rocking party that took place on Saturday night. The campers only knew that there was going to be a special guest band performing but they had no idea it was going to be none other than 8th Day, a new rock band that quite literally raised the rafters of the hall packed with Chai Lifeline campers, counselors, friends and supporters. The dancing and fun went on for hours and not a single camper, or anyone else, left without a beaming smile from this small taste of Camp on the West Coast.
