50 Chai Cyclists ‘Bike the Drive’ for Chai Lifeline’s Children

Seriously ill children may not have the energy to bicycle several miles on Lake Shore Drive, but over 50 Chai Cyclists had them in mind during the Bank of America Bike the Drive on Sunday, May 25th.

Chai Cyclists is a group of novice and veteran bicyclers who have used the Bike the Drive event as a way to raise funds for Chai Lifeline. Ranging in age from 11 years old to 66 years young, they raised a minimum of $180 each as part of the group.

“Chai Cyclists were motivated by as many factors as there were participants; some participated to get into shape, others were drawn by the event’s scenic course along the world-famous Lake Shore Drive, and some trained with family and friends to enjoy quality time together. All cycled on race day to bring Chai Lifeline’s critical support services to seriously ill children and their families,” said Rabbi Shlomo Crandall, director Midwest regional operations for Chai Lifeline.

Chai Lifeline Midwest, based in Chicago, is a not –for-profit organization that provides emotional and social support to the families of children with life-threatening illnesses or serious chronic and genetic conditions throughout the Midwest.
