I once heard a great saying about marriage: “Everyone comes with baggage. Find someone who loves you enough to help you unpack.” When I quoted it to a friend, she responded with a line from the Pulitzer Prize winning musical, Rent: “Everyone has baggage…I’m looking for baggage thatgoes with mine.”

We talk about the shidduch crisis all the time, but we often omit any discussion of our unwillingness to accept baggage, the perceived imperfections of others. And perceived they are.
