This summer, B^EH I will bike 150 miles from the Jersey Shore to Camp Simcha, an extraordinary overnight camp that gives children with cancer a vacation from sickness that restores their spirits and renews their determination to fight illness.
The ride will not be easy, but neither is life for a child with cancer or other serious illness. Camp Simcha and its sister camp, Camp Simcha Special, are the organization*s flagship programs. Every year these two camps offer 430 children a chance to forget about illness and just be kids again. (To learn more about Camp Simcha and Camp Simcha special, visit www.campsimcha.org.)
I will be biking to camp on Wednesday and Thursday Aug. 8rd & 9th. My objective is to raise $3,600 by then and I hope you will help me reach this goal. All donations are 100% tax-deductible.
Please contribute by clicking on the donate button now.
Thank you for supporting me, and in doing so, helping children and their families cope with the diagnosis, treatment, and aftermath of serious pediatric illness.
Best regards,

Only a few months away from the
event, and we are a little under halfway there. The goal is to raise $3600, and
so far I am up to $1,522. With your help we can get
there.

After the last few months of
training indoors, I have had the (limited) opportunity to ride outdoors. I have
seen some improvement in my cycling technics, which have made me a stronger
cyclist (I hope). Last Sunday I was able
to get a few hours of cycling, and I was able to do about 85 kilometers. I
still have a way to go in the training process, but progress is being made,
slowly but surely. I have been using a
useful app on my phone that helps me track my progress, here is the link if you
want to see the route I took this past Sunday (http://share.abvio.com/92a9/e6c8/4e62/fb84/Cyclemeter-Cycle-20120415-1259.kml).
I had the opportunity to join 2 friends for the last 24 Kilometers, Israel
Hutman (Who is also joining us for the Chai Lifeline bike marathon) and Yitz
Honig.

I have been working hard
training at nights on my trainer. This morning at 5:45am I was up and out the
door for a training session at Cycle Technique on Atwater http://www.cycletechnique.com/cycling/ for a power based coached class. My friend Zev Laine
suggested (and paid for me to) join him for the class. It was quite a workout.
I surprised myself as I did very well (for someone that only started to bike
seriously in the last 8 months). I was in “second place” in our group of 20
riders! I completed about 40 kilometres in about 1 hour. My legs are a little
sore but I will keep pushing on so that on event day I will be able to manage.

Started to do my training
yesterday. I did a threshold test, and it was brutal! Probably one of the
hardest things I have had to do on a bike. I will have to work very hard to get
my leg muscles used to the “burn” for the long distant ride (150 miles!!!). So
far my numbers (Heart rate, Wattage, Cadence) are looking good, but I will need
to keep working to improve the numbers. This is not easy, since I don’t have
enough hours in the day (like everyone else J ), so I will have
to do my training late at night, which is far from ideal. I look forward to
training outdoors this spring, as sitting on a stationary bike is so boring,
but necessary.
